First Aid & Medication
Children come to school with minor ailments, such as colds and headaches and we would expect for them to be able to manage throughout the school day. If you have decided that your child is well enough to attend school then please can you make these expectations clear to them, to help them to build resilience and to know that you expect them to remain in school for the day.
Should your child feel unwell during the school day the first aid team will assess them and when needed you will be contacted to discuss how best to treat them. If they need to go home then they must be collected by a responsible adult.
If your child requires medication for a serious medical condition e.g. an EpiPen, Asthma Inhaler, Diabetic Medication then please ensure that it is handed to Student Reception, with any supporting paperwork from the medical profession along with our own Administration of Medication Form:

If your child requires medication on an ad hoc basis then please complete the Administration of Medication Form and hand to Student Reception. If it is prescribed by the GP, then it should be handed in with the original packaging, the student’s name and dosage as prescribed.
We do not now allow students to have medication on their person during the school day. However, in exceptional circumstances of emergency medication, arrangements can be made, this should be discussed with a Lead First Aider in Student Reception in the first instance.
If your child has a current Health Care Plan you can let us know through the Admissions Pack, through Student Reception or by email (below). You will be contacted to discuss the details further to ensure we are caring for your child in the best possible way.
