Equipment for Learning
Being equipped for work is a life skill and we insist that students come to school prepared for their learning.
Your child is expected to arrive at school each day with:
- An appropriate school bag to carry equipment and school books
- A clear pencil case containing as a minimum:
- Two black pens
- A ruler
- A pencil and sharpener
- Coloured pencils
- A coloured highlighter
- Maths set
- Scientific calculator
- Yondr phone pouch (provided by the school, replacement pouches are to be purchased from the school)
- School planner (privided by the school, replacement plannersare to be purchased from the school)
- Refillable water bottle

Updated School Equipment List for Student effective September 2025
Please ensure your child comes to school ‘ready to learn’ with the following equipment:
Required: all students must have these items
- An appropriate school bag to carry equipment and books
- A refillable water bottle
- A Scientific Calculator (school recommends the Casio FX-83GTCW)
- A ‘Reading Ruler Overlay’, also known as a ‘Guided Reading Strip’ (must have either a guide line, guide strip or window; and must be plain not patterned)
- A clear pencil case
- 2 black pens
- 1 blue pen and 1 green pen (or 1 multiway pen)
- A minimum of 1 highlighter pen (3 of different colours are desirable)
- A ruler
- A pencil
- A sharpener
- An eraser
Desirable: optional but useful items
- A Protractor & Compass (or Maths Set)
- 3 highlighter pens of different colours
- Small selection of coloured pencils
- A boot bag/drawstring bag for PE kit (small/manageable size as students carry their belongings throughout the day)
Provided on first occasion
The following items are provided by school on the first occasion, but replacements are purchased from school at parent/carers own cost:
- School Planner
- Yondr Phone Pouch - please note, this is item is loaned to your child for their duration here at WSE, and will be expected that it is returned to us when they leave. Should the pouch be lost or damaged, there will be a charge of £25 applied to your ParentPay account for a replacement to be issued. Therefore, it is extremely important your child looks after their pouch so you do not incur a replacement charge.
